Royal Holloway University of London online MBA

When looking to go back to school, most adults do not have the luxury of leaving work and taking on a full class schedule.  This is where distance learning can make a big difference in getting that degree or not.  Royal Holloway, University of London in the UK offers a MBA in International Management and utilizes the distance learning that it started in 1858.  It was, in fact, the first school to offer this mode of education in the world.

Royal Holloway is the School of International Management within the University of London.  It has approximately 600 students enrolled in the online MBA programme, with 30 students accepted per year.  The school is accredited by the AMBA, and therefore its students are highly respected in their field upon graduation.  The deadlines for applying are March 31 and July 31, but there is also the ability to apply all through the year.  As there are limited seats available, it is recommended that one applies as early as possible.

The admission requirements begin with at least 3 years postgraduate work experience and the applicant must have a second class honours degree or the equivalent from an acceptable university or other institution.  They may also have a first degree form an acceptable university or institution with a G-MAT score of 550 or better.  The applicant must have a good grasp of the English language and may be required to pass a test of proficiency such as the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a score of 6.5 or better or a Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a score of 580.  If necessary, up to 20% of credits earned in the previous 5 years may be transferred to Royal Holloway.

The time limit to complete the MBA course of study is 2 to 5 years. There is a mandatory 2 weeks of on-site study, spread out in separate 1 week sessions, with the first week consisting of master classes and can be attended at any time during your studies.  The second week consists of career and personal development and includes 2 days of focusing on a group project.  Unlike the first week, the student must have attempted the assessment and examination for all 9 of the MBA core courses before being able to attend this second week.  The student is responsible for all travel and lodging arrangements for the 2 week periods.  All other classes are conducted via the distance learning modules, with exams to be taken at any number of affiliated sites for the convenience of the student.
